As a naturopathic doctor (ND) I believe good health care should transform your life. It is about more than quickly giving a supplement or super-food to ease your complaint. Good healthcare should have you thriving in all areas of your life. It should have you eating well and sleeping well. It should change the way you structure your days and habits. It should improve the environment around you and the household products you use. Good health care should even improve your outlook on life. All these areas affect your current state of health. I also believe health care should be as gentle as possible and not intimidating.

Every system of your body can have a profound impact on your health. Your digestive system can play a role in the health of your skin. Your immune system can influence the level of pain you are in. Your hormones can impact your mood. The list is endless. Sometimes you try to unravel this web on your own. You may research and experiment with many remedies and still not get results. Often what you need is individual guidance from an expert.

I can help you with:

Getting your blood pressure, sugar or cholesterol down
Getting a better night’s sleep
Regulating your period and your hormones
Reducing your aches and pains
Reducing your weight
Easing your anxiety and depression
Improving your digestion
And much more
Naturopathic Medicine is a distinct form of primary health care which combines traditional natural therapies, with modern evidence-based scientific knowledge. It focuses on strengthening the foundations of health, in order to prevent disease and work towards making effective and sustainable changes that are beneficial for your health. Naturopathic Doctors aim to determine the root cause of illness rather than suppressing symptoms, so that patients can be provided with a long-term solution for their health concerns. As part of your initial intake, Dr. Navleen will work with you to take a complete health history in order to understand all the mental, physical and environmental factors that may be affecting your health. This allows her to provide you with an individualized treatment plan that is unique to your specific health concerns and goals!

Natural therapies that Dr. Navleen may use as part of your treatment plan include clinical nutrition & supplementation, lifestyle counselling, botanical medicine and acupuncture.

Dr. Navleen also uses additional testing when necessary, to take a closer look at some of the factors that may be affecting your health.

Naturopathic Doctors are trained to successfully manage and treat many acute and chronic health concerns. These include but are not limited to: digestive concerns, hormonal concerns (i.e women’s health, insulin resistance, thyroid conditions, menopause), fertility and pregnancy, metabolic dysfunction, allergies & intolerances, fatigue & stress, cardiovascular disease, pain management, poor sleep, and more!

If you’re not sure if Naturopathic Medicine can help with your specific health concerns, we encourage you to book a complimentary Meet & Greet with Dr. Navleen to see if it’s the right fit for you!

Osteopathic medicine was founded in the late 1800s in Kirksville, Missouri, by a medical doctor
A. T. Still, who recognized that the medical practices of the day often caused more harm than
good. He focused on developing a system of medical care that would promote the body’s innate
ability to heal itself and called this system of medicine osteopathy. Osteopathic manual
practitioners work in partnership with their patients. They consider the impact that lifestyle and
community have on the health of each individual, and they work to break down barriers to good
health.

This system of hands-on techniques helps alleviate pain, restores motion, supports the body’s
natural functions and influences the body’s structure to help it function more efficiently.
The first of the major principles of osteopathic practice is that the human body is a unit, an
integrated organism in which no part functions independently. This regulation, coordination and
integration of the body through multiple biological systems is often referred to as the principle of
body unity.

One key concept osteopathy is that structure influences function. Thus, if there is a problem in
one part of the body’s structure, function in that area, and possibly in other areas, may be
affected.

Another very important aspect of osteopathic thinking is that the role of the artery is absolute.
All the fluids in the body including blood in the arteries and veins, lymph flowing through the
lymphatics, and the cerebral spinal fluid (CSF) circulating around the brain and spinal cord must
be free-flowing and unobstructed.

Another integral tenet of osteopathic philosophy is the body’s innate ability to heal itself. Many
of osteopathic manipulative techniques are aimed at reducing or eliminating the impediments to
proper structure and function so the self-healing mechanism can assume its role in restoring a
person to health.

Believe it or not, our pets need chiropractors too! Here are some of the most common reasons to bring your pet to a chiropractor :

1. Aging
As our pets age we will see changes in their mobility and ability to participate in the activities they love. This could include difficulty chasing a ball, going up and down the stairs, walking on slippery floors, getting up from laying down and jumping up onto the bed. Although chiropractic cannot reverse the aging process, with regular adjustments we can ease their discomfort and help them to maintain as much function as possible. This improves their quality of life and helps them to continue enjoying life as they age.

2. Injury
Our pets are very active and just like us, can be a little bit injury prone. When our pet suffers an injury, we want to do everything we can to help them heal and get back to feeling their best. Animal chiropractic is a great way to help both assess and treat injuries in our pets and make sure that they are back in action as soon as possible. Of course some injuries will require a trip to the veterinarian, but we are happy to co-manage these problems with their primary care provider to insure a well-rounded treatment plan.

3. Performance and Athletes
If your pet is an athlete and involved in any high performance events, then chiropractic its strongly recommended. Regular chiropractic “tune-ups” help your athlete coordinate their movements so they can always compete at their best. In many events, the smallest details make the biggest difference, so making sure your pet is aligned and moving well is a great way to enhance their performance.

4. Wellness
An assessment with our chiropractor will help to pinpoint areas that may need some attention so that our pets can live their normal, active lifestyles. Regular chiropractic visits aid in the overall wellness of our pets and can improve their quality of life.
